Spalding United Football Club Supports the Friends with £400 Donation

Members of the Friends of Johnson Community Hospital enjoyed a very pleasurable afternoon yesterday meeting with two members of Spalding United Football Club – Gary Kent, Club Secretary, and Andy Graves, the Club’s Commercial Manager. The purpose of the visit was to receive a most generous donation of £400 from the Club.

Gary Kent said: “Spalding United were looking for a Charity Partner for our 2024/2025 season, we wanted a local charity that meant something to the Spalding Community, the people managing the fund raising and donating would mostly be from Spalding too.

We also wanted to ensure our donation was to benefit the people of Spalding and would be spent on something specific, we didn’t want our donation to get ‘lost’ in a larger pot. We decided on the League of Friends at the Johnson Hospital for all the reasons outlined above as we felt they matched our own values. We were delighted to donate £400 to the League of Friends and we look forward to finding out how our donation has made a small difference.”

Christine Grocock, Secretary commented: “Both the Friends and the Club share values of teamwork, dedication, and community — drawing a parallel between the football team’s spirit and the Friends’ mission.”

The Friends would like to acknowledge not only the Club but also the fans, as their support indirectly makes such charitable donations possible. When you cheer on the Tulips, you’re also helping support your local hospital.

The Friends are truly grateful to Spalding Football Club for their generosity and kindness. We will be keeping the Club updated on how this donation will be used to support the hardworking nurses and auxiliary staff, as well as providing comfort to patients at Johnson Community Hospital.
